The End Of An Era…
From the very first iteration of the White Swan, we have held family at the forefront of why we do what we do.
Back in 2012 Rory, Hugh, Sam and baby Spike beautifully renovated a dilapidated building into a carefully considered village gastro-pub, serving popular drinks and lunch & dinner pub favourites for many years.
In 2020 we all suffered a great impact on both our personal and work lives as the country shut down due to the global pandemic. With the support of Claudia’s involvement we shifted our attentions temporarily to a new venture in nearby Lutterworth, thankfully being able to offer takeaway to customers at the time that we were mostly shielded inside our homes.
Combining a new blended family, homeschooling and running two hospitality businesses had its challenges, but we remained optimistic and motivated by the wonderful feedback and connection with our customers that we continue to enjoy!
As lockdowns eased The White Swan was once again renovated to a lighter, brighter aesthetic and opened in May 2021 with a new iteration of the way forward - our Tasting Menu and Chef’s Table service.
Since then we have introduced our Bistro Menu, lunch menus and served Christmas At Home recipe boxes. We’ve created incredible dinner party events and served wedding couples on one of the happiest days of their lives through our Private Chef service.
We’ve continued to work with an incredible kitchen team, and reduced their working days to 4 out of 7 to ensure they all have quality time with their families and children.
What we haven’t done is spend a lot of time together as a family, especially since the arrival of baby Freddie (who, frighteningly, is now 2!). Both myself (Claudia) and Rory thrive on being busy and are powered by being productive, however there is always a point of too much compromise.
Over the last few months we have taken decisions that put our boys first and foremost, and with that comes a relocation to South Derbyshire. Rory has been offered a role in a private catering environment that allows us time to build family memories together, and I’m returning to my photography and creative life full time.
The White Swan will close the doors on Sunday the 25th of August, and we’re thrilled to finish out in late August and early September with two incredible private catering events.
We will still be offering private chef hire for dinner parties, birthdays, hen dos, work events, weddings and more - our new business is The Seasonal Kitchen and you can follow us on instagram at @seasonalkitchencatering or our website www.theseasonalkitchen.co.uk
In the meantime it’s business as normal - our kitchen team are with us until the end and we’ve just taken on a new Front of House Supervisor with over 15 years experience (Lisa), so please do say hello if you see her. Our focus is still on excellence and that will not waiver.
